11th/12th Century Church Design

When we meet up to decide which member of the team is designing and making which part of our project, I was chosen by The Director (Depa) to design and make the 12th century church. The reason for this was that Depa thought that I was very passionate about the old church when I was showing my ideas and drawings of it that I had so far. She also agreed with them and had a similar idea in mind for the 12th century church herself.

Formative

I had my formative today... I looked at my performance with the group on the Church Task and assessed how I felt the exercise was going.

I rated myself across five key areas to provide the basis for discussion with Jared. Initially I was probably a little too generous with my marking but I think I quite accurately rated my key strengths areas for improvement:

• Lots of photography and research on churches from around the 12th century
• Church object designs

Areas For Improvement:

• Modeling on some of the objects
• Always keeping the blog up to date
  

Jared gave objective views on my contributions to the team and also the use of colour and light. When I thought about the harsher ratings I think that it is fair and will help me to get better in these areas moving forward.

Some More Designs

Here are some designs for the gargoyle of our church that I am going to create. My favourite is the top right one (I would make it look more evil) but my group members like the middle left one best so I will create one that looks more like that.















Below is a design idea I had for how the church could look. I didn't think that it was a great idea but I will still talk to the team about it.

Should We Use Skeletons... Yes or No??

Today we had a serious discussion and we all gave our opinions whether we should include skeletons in our church.
I originally liked the idea when Jared suggested it to me and Guy, but I since changed my mind and do not feel it is right for the story we agreed upon.
In our discussion I put forward my view and Nathan and Guy said that they felt the same way.
